OU Academic Technology Expo

The Office of Academic Integrity Programs has made great strides in addressing the challenges of using technology to educate students on the standards of academic integrity in the online educational environment such as online courses or course management sites like Desire 2 Learn. Key concepts we will cover include how to use technology to address expectations and standards of academic integrity at the beginning of the course, how to reinforce these concepts throughout the semester, as well as how to effectively use Turnitin.com on D2L assignments. We will explore our recent technological developments by reviewing a timeline of the creation of our office, trends of technology and academic misconduct, and the growth we have made specifically in this area.

The Library's new Collaborative Learning Center is the staging ground for a burgeoning mobile technology that has the potential to unite the online and offline (that is, physical) campus experience. This app-based solution illuminates the true range of available resources/services/tools by guiding stakeholders directly to their desired location while simultaneously conveying various media. The talk will be a project overview that explores both justification for and deployment of this technology.

The Innovation Hub is a collaborative university-wide activity involving Libraries, Information Technology and the Price College of Business to build a space for teaching, research, creative and entrepreneurial activities. In this presentation we will go over the components of the Innovation Hub and discuss connections to other activities on campus. After the presentation we will be soliciting input to further develop programs and activities at the Hub which are embedded throughout campus.

Curriculum mapping, essential to program assessment, shows how individual course learning outcomes support overall program learning outcomes. Scouring syllabi to identify learning outcomes for all of a program’s courses is a tedious and time-consuming task. Surveying your faculty can help. The Office of Academic Assessment staff will demonstrate how using Qualtrics, online survey software, can streamline in-program data gathering processes and make your life easier!

The first annual One U Cup was held November 14th & 15th, 2014 and included almost 40 OU students plus numerous faculty and staff mentors. This event, new this year at OU, aims to bring value to OU students, faculty and staff, and the greater Oklahoma community through the utilization and creation of innovative technology. Each year, a different college will call the challenge and name the technology to be used in that challenge. In this year's challenge, teams collaborated with Microsoft Engineers to design a working prototype of an app that allows OU students to more easily connect. This session will include a presentation from the organizers of the event on key takeaways and lessons learned as well as the presentations of the 3 student group finalists in the event.
